Writing time

Okay... Here I am. I'm beginning to start on a daily writing time. From 9:00 am to 9:30 am every day, I will write. To start with I'm just going to do free writing. Hopefully, it will get my creative juices flowing. (I'm even going to attempt to ignore red worms on the page.)

My phone is on silent, coffee is ready, and I'm going to ignore the urge to “look things up” on the internet. Just going to write.

So far, so good. Granted, it's on;y been five minutes, but it definitely an improvement.

I'm going to post this as a blog post, but I will edit it after I'm done writing. In fact, I'll post my writing every day, unless I start an actual story or get more ideas for the two that are floating about in my head.

Damn. My left wrist is beginning to hurt slr4eady. And I'm looking around and not typing. I can do this though.

I started reading a book, The Divine Guide to Creating a Daily Writing Practice by Pernille Norregord. This book is what motivated me to do this. I call it a book even though it's only forty-eight pages long. One thing the book mentions is if a certain word doesn't immediately come to mind use a placeholder. I am using the one mentioned by the author, “XX.”

Even with my wrist as painful as it is, I'm plowing through it. It's been ten minutes so far.

Maybe I should somehow make it to where the clock isn't visible, then I won't be tempted to look at it.
Another thing, are emoticons viable for this? I keep wanting to add winky faces or smiley face or even the occasional LOL. Hopefully, as I do this my wrist will eventually stop hurting.

I decided to use those times because everyone else in the house is asleep. During the week, only my brother is awake at this time, but he isn't home.

The boys have afternoon classes at Garland Can Academy, so they can sleep in, and I don't have to start waking them up, mainly the older nephew, until 10 am. The younger one usually wakes up on his own.

This is more difficult than I thought. Between my wrist hurting and seeing all the “red worms” on the page, I keep wanting to stop typing. Resting my hand or to edit. It is taking extreme willpower for me to not do this.

How many of you have a daily writing routine? How long until you could do it without “fighting” it?

Sometime this coming week I need to get to the Garland campus of Parkland so I can get re-qualified for their insurance. I need to talk to a doctor about my hand. I've had to cancel four appointments so far. Two with the ortho clinic, one with my lead doctor, one for the diabetes clinic, and one for a psych appointment. Okay, that's five appointments.

I just put the phone back to sound, so I can hear the alarm to stop goes off.

What do you think about this exercise? Should I keep up with it, later expanding the time as I get more comfortable with it, or will it just make things worse? I'm not actually getting any stories written, but I am putting words to page.

I actually got a sunburn on my scalp. I didn't notice it until I was at Denny's the other day because I had an itch and it hurt when I scratched it.

Okay, made the mistake of looking at the clock again, but it's okay. Just noticed that I have five more minutes left to write.

Maybe I'll post it as is, just to prove that I was able to resist the urge to edit as I go. No, but let me know if you think I should.

Okay, my wrist is beginning to hurt, a lot. So I'm going to go ahead and stop, even though I have about four minutes left. I want to get this edited too.

So... Until tomorrow folks. I bid thee ado.
